Making the wealthy pay their fair share so working families get ahead
It is ridiculous that in the richest country in the world, people go
into debt every day just by trying to make ends meet. No one should
have to decide between seeing a doctor and affording groceries.
Chelsey will fight to:
End Trump's Tariffs. The US Federal Reserve Bank ↗ (opens chelseyhockettforcongress.com/issues.html at this heading)
confirmed that Trump's tariffs on foreign goods produces a
"dollar-for-dollar" increase on the cost of what you buy.
Enact Medicare for All. A comprehensive universal
healthcare system would eliminate health insurance premiums and
deductibles by ending corporate welfare in the healthcare
industry. This reform would relieve small business owners of
healthcare costs while saving Americans an estimated $2-5
trillion over the next decade.
Enact Universal Childcare so parents can afford to raise
their kids and participate in the workforce.
Tie the Minimum to Wage Cost of Living, starting with a ↗ (opens chelseyhockettforcongress.com/issues.html at this heading)
$25 Minimum Wage. One adult living alone needs at least
$21/hr, and one adult and one child needs at least $35/hr. The
current federal minimum wage of $7.25 is unlivable and unjust.
We deserve better.
Tie Social Security Benefits to Cost of Living, starting with a ↗ (opens chelseyhockettforcongress.com/issues.html at this heading)
$200 Increase in Benefits. We can fully fund and expand Social Security benefits by simply removing
the cap on the Social Security Tax so the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share.
Pass the PRO Act to ensure workers have a right to organize,
unionize, and negotiate higher wages without retaliation.
Build more affordable housing units and crack down on
corporate landlords sitting on empty homes. We are in a housing
crisis! These properties should be made available to the
communities that need them most!

Well-funded communities thrive
Fully fund public services. Libraries, recreation
centers, and national parks make our communities more
attractive. People are more likely to move to and invest in an
area that has these amenities.
Build more public transit. Our society has become overly
dependent on cars. Not only does this create unnecessary traffic
congestion, but it also causes pollution, social isolation due
to separated communities, and a lack of walkable areas for
people to relax in. Public transit is also fantastic for
businesses! Workers, customers, and tourists all heavily benefit
from having more options. It is estimated for every $1 invested
in public transit, we get $5 back.

Holding the Epstein Class Accountable ↗ (opens chelseyhockettforcongress.com/issues.html at this heading)
Release the Epstein Files. Prosecute the Perpetrators.
The survivors of those horrible atrocities deserve to see their
abusers brought to justice. Child abusers should be in jail, not
running our businesses and our government.
Enact the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to ↗ (opens chelseyhockettforcongress.com/issues.html at this heading)
ban partisan gerrymandering so we can ensure safe, fair, free,
and easily accessible elections.
Make corporations and billionaires pay their fair share by closing tax loopholes and instituting a
progressive income tax and a wealth tax. The working class should not be paying a higher percentage of
taxes than Elon Musk and other ultra-wealthy people.
Ban insider trading. Politics should be about making the
world a better place, not personal gain.
Get corporate and billionaire money out of politics. Our
politicians exist to serve WE THE PEOPLE, not the Epstein
class.

Every child deserves a world-class education
As a mom with kids in public school, I am a proud supporter of high quality public education. Yet I have
witnessed firsthand the consequences of our government's corrupt decision to defund our schools, whether
through withholding money at the federal level or pushing voucher scams at the state level that drain money
from our public schools and funnel it into private ones. We deserve better. I will fight for full federal
investment in every public school in our congressional district.
Increasing Funding For Our Public Schools and end the ↗ (opens chelseyhockettforcongress.com/issues.html at this heading)
divisive culture wars that seek to ruin our educational system.
Our schools are closing at an alarming rate due to government
mismanagement and hostility towards the common citizens. Our
children deserve quality public education. Billionaires,
corporations, and greedy corrupt politicians have no right to
take that away.
Increase Teacher Pay and honor our public servants. We
should be making laws and standards that help our kids learn and
allow our teachers to guide them, not setting up red tape and
nonsensical policies that waste everyone's time and money.

Everyone is deserving of respect and dignity
Abolish and Prosecute ICE and replace it with humane,
accountable immigration services. ICE endangers communities
through murder, unlawful arrests and deportations, unauthorized
entry, refusing to carry ID, assaulting protesters, and
intimidating community members. They must be held accountable
for these crimes. Providing fair and efficient pathways to
citizenship would do far more to secure our borders than masked
armed men roaming the streets ever has done.
Codify Roe V. Wade and return control of women's health
decisions to each woman, her doctor, and her conscience. The
government should not have the power to dictate each citizen's
personal medical decisions.
Ensure the rights of ALL Americans citizens are
protected and respected by passing the Equality Act designed to
prevent discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, and
gender identity. It amends the 1964 Civil Rights Act to
explicitly include these protections in employment, housing,
public accommodations, educations, and federal funding.
Provide more funding to Prosecute Hate Crimes. Hatred
against religions, like the rising prejudice against Islam and
Judaism, has been tearing apart our communities. How can we
guarantee our
Constitutional right to freedom of religion when our
neighbors cannot safely practice their own beliefs? Whether we
are immigrants, racial minorities, LGBTQIA+, or a part of any
marginalized group,
We Are All Worthy of Respect and Dignity.

Community safety and crime prevention initiatives
Ensure access to quality mental health services. People
who struggle with mental illness should be able to get the help
they need. If we do not treat them, we make the world a more
dangerous place.
Provide more funding to social workers and find nonviolent
solutions to crime.
Too often our police are sent in to solve situations that they
are not certified to deal with. Most of them are not trained
mental health professionals. Social workers are chronically
underpaid, short-staffed, and work in under-funded agencies.
Supporting them helps relieve the burden on police, deescalates
mental health crises, and helps prevent future incidents or
crimes by providing safety to those in need.
Use public services to make our communities safer.
Research consistently shows that investing in public services
like libraries, parks, and recreation centers is a proven
strategy for reducing crime and improving community safety.
Studies have linked the presence of these spaces to significant
reductions in violent crime, burglaries, and assaults, while
also fostering stronger social cohesion among residents. Rather
than relying solely on enforcement, communities benefit most
when residents have safe, accessible places to gather, learn,
and engage.

Clean water, clean air, and a healthy future for East Texas
East Texas families depend on clean water, clean air, and healthy
land.
Enact a AI Data Center Moratorium because tech companies are taking away water
from our communities and causing horrific pollution.
Enact a Green New Deal to expand renewable energy
initiatives and bring in more jobs. Solar and wind energy are
significantly cheaper than fossil fuels. Wind power costs
~$30/MWh, compared to natural gas ($65), coal ($46–$100), and
nuclear ($80).

We should promote peace
End the Genocide in Gaza by passing the
Block the Bombs Act and other legislation that will
terminate all US funding for the apartheid state of Israel while
at the same time forcing through desperately needed aid to the
people of Palestine. I will work with any and all allies in
Congress, like Representative Tlaib, to enforce international
law and hold those responsible for the genocide
accountable.
I will support the internationally recognized
right of return for Palestinians so they may reclaim
their lands from which they have been ethnically cleansed.
Palestinians, like all people, have a right to peace, freedom,
and self-determination.
End the forever wars. No more war in Iran. No more war in
Lebanon. End the war and genocide in Sudan. No to war in
Venezuela. No to war in Cuba. No to war in Mexico.
Our citizens are sick of the
trillions of taxpayer dollars wasted on these senseless
conflicts. We are all heartbroken by the pointless waste of
human lives, too often those of innocent women and children. We
should be building schools, not bombing them. We should be
funding our own country's healthcare and housing, not propping
up petty dictatorial regimes.

No one is disposable. That means ending mass detention, protecting
LGBTQ+ people, and treating every person with humanity under the
law. It means protecting the right to organize, because unions are
how working people protect themselves. And it means restoring the
Voting Rights Act and overturning Citizens United so that democracy
works for people, not billionaires.

Health care is a human right. Every Texan should be able to get care
without fear, shame, or financial ruin. That includes maternal
health, reproductive care, mental health, and childcare. I will
fight for Medicare for All, protect and restore reproductive rights,
strengthen rural hospitals, and make sure no family ever has to
choose between groceries and seeing a doctor.
